Baby festive pom pom hat

This year was going to be the first christmas for my niece Gio...and I wanted to get her delivered something special and quite festive!!

I went shopping for baby festive clothes, got her a snowman jumper and some santa trousers..but I was willing to add a handmade touch... so I started looking for free baby patterns of elf hats or santa ones....

..when I came across this lovely simple long tail stripy hat pattern on A lemon dropp life blog ! I immediately felt in love with it! It was shown in red and white, and so I realized it.

I found it nicely festive but at the same time easy to wear all over the winter  :)

The pattern shown on the blog is very easy to follow, almost completely based on half double crochet stitches with a cute pom pom at the very end!

I have sent a box to my niece to Italy and I can't wait to receive pictures of baby Gio wearing the stripy hat :)

Taking the occasion to wish everyone lovely holidays, hope you enjoy the link to the pattern and try it out as it's very fast and easy to make!

Crochet Snowflakes Garland

A very simple and quick way to decorate your house for Christmas....a Snowflakes garland!!

I used the free snowflakes tutorial by Sarah London and it found it great....it takes only about 5 minutes to make one of these snowflakes and then you can put them together as you wish and hung them around!!

I loved the pattern, easy to follow and very quick to make!!! I believe you could also just make single snowflakes and leave them around the christmas table :)

If you were looking for a free snowflakes pattern I think this could be a good start!!

Have a lovely saturday

Let's Crochet for Charity

This weekend I thought I would do something good by crocheting, hopefully giving a little help to less fortunates putting together yarns, hook and my hands....

I looked on the internet for charities that need help from crocheters and knitters and I run into Kofia, a charity which, as the website says, is "asking people to make baby hats for a remote community in Berega, Tanzania. A simple act which will save the lives of malnourished and premature babies - just by keeping them warm."

I thought it was a lovely idea....and I thought that by spreading the word among my crocheter friends we could really make a positive difference and help these babies.

Here is the baby warm hat I made today.

I started from the pattern of Adventures in Crochet, added a couple more rounds of dc and decided to add a pom pom with a some green to make it more colorful.

I hope you like the idea and join with some crochet hats to help babies in Tanzania.

Wishing you a lovely weekend

Time for Thanksgiving Decorations!

This will be my first celebration of Thanksgiving and I am pretty excited about it!

My husband is American and this year we finally got to live together....So I am trying to do my best to make him feel home in London, creating a nice atmosphere with decorations and hopefully making a lovely meal next Thursday! His family is thinking about flying over and it would make it a lovely day with family and friends!!

In order to get ready for the event, I have started googling around for Thanksgiving decorations, got myself some autumn leaves as well as pine cones!

Then...what about crocheting something as well? Thanks to Pinterest I found this amazing pattern of a crochet Thanksgiving turkey from Zara which you can find on her blog HERE

I found it way too cute!! I had to try and make one too for our dinner table next Thursday...and here are the results!!

The pattern is free and available on her blog...and I found it very well written and easy to follow....if you're looking for ideas for Thanksgiving, I think you should have a look at it!..her idea of making the wings with granny squares is really lovely!

Wishing you all a nice and creative evening

Love

Duck flannel or duck placemat?

This year for my birthday my friends made me a wonderful present...I guess it shows how much they know me!!! They got me some gorgeous yarns, some crochet ideas and a one year subscription to the Inside Crochet Monthly Magazine!!!! They couldn't have chosen better!!

Of course this will be a big incentive for me to find some cute ideas for presents for each one to thank them :)

But when I got the October magazine I saw something pretty cute and I couldn't resist!! My friends' presents will have to be slightly postponed.....

The Magazine is really great, as apart from giving you lots of crochet ideas, it does actually include several pattern instructions!!! Among them I found a pattern for a duck flannel designed by Helen Free.

The duck grew quite fast, as the pattern suggests the use of a thick cotton yarn and I worked it with a 5.5mm hook.

However, once realized it, the more I was looking at it, the more I was thinking it could be a nice idea for a kitchen placemat for kids....as I think it could catch their attention and hopefully make them enjoy their meal time even more!!!!!

My husband is suggesting me to keep the duck for the bathroom and make a long blue stripe with a waving shape as bathmat.... I think it could work..

...though to be honest I still haven't kept any of my crochet work for myself and I am a bit more tempted to make a cute eye to the duck, add a bit more color and give it to my niece.... hhhmmmm..decisions, decisions.....hmmmm...

What would you suggest?

Wish you all a happy day

My first crochet earrings...for my soulmate Miky!

A special occasion coming and I needed to come up with something special for it...my best friend Miky turning 30 this year!!!!

With my group of friends we bought her a lovely present but I felt I really wanted to give her something handmade following my growing passion for crochet...

As Miky always wears earrings, typically quite big ones as they suit her style so well, I thought I could try and put myself into crocheting my first pair of earrings!!

I didn't have a pattern to follow and I had very little time...I had bought some plain plastic rings this summer and I decided to start crocheting around them and use some wood stones at the end which could match with the green yarn I was using.... at the end, as suggested on most websites I used some fabric stiffener to make them stiffer!

And here is the result!!!

When I gave them to Miky at her birthday party she put them on...and it made me really happy...they were going so well with what she was wearing that night and with her red lipstick...pretty stylish!

I hope you guys like them and if you have any comments on how could I improve them please leave me a comment!!

Ps: I thought I would share with you that yesterday the Baby Converse I had made for Joaquim finally reached him!!!

Happy weekend everyone!

Spooky times...spiders hanging around!!!

It's been a couple of weeks that I keep thinking about crocheting something for Halloween...but with thousands of ideas and a huge to-do list I still hadn't had a chance...

I finally made it! These are quick and easy halloween decorations in as many colors as possible to have  them hanging around the house!

I found the pattern on Tejiendoperu blog with a full video tutorial that guides you step by step on how to easily make these lil spooky funny spiders!

It's real fun to make them and see how many expressions they can make :)

Hope you get inspired as well!

Happy evening!
