Crochet Key Cover

How many times has it happened to you to have lots of similar keys and every time it's a big guess which one will be the right one?

It happens to me all the time...so I thought about using crochet to fix this little issue and I crocheted a key cover!

It was for my bike lock keys, therefore I thought that the easiest way to make the right key stand out, was to use the same colours that I used to crochet my bike bell and saddle, which you can find HERE!

It took me no longer than 5-10 mins and my key problem had disappeared!!!

If you'd like to make one, here below are the simple instructions for my key cover, which would work for a medium size rounded key using a 3mm hook:

Color A:
Round 1: Start with a magic loop, 5sc in the magic loop
Round 2: 2sc in each stitch (total 10 st)
Round 3: 1sc in next 3 st, 2 chains and skip next 2st, 1sc in next 3 st, 2 chains and skip next 2st (10 st)
Round 4: 1sc in each stitch (total 10 st).
As I was working in rounds I do 2 more sc in the next 2 st in Color A before changing colour.

Color B:
Round 5: 1sc in each stitch (total 10st)

Color A:
Round 6: 5sc2tog (total 5 st)

Fasten off and the key cover is ready! You can then make as many chains as you want with Color B and pass them through the hole to tight it to your set of keys.

Crochet Pumpkin Amigurumi

The season is here, and all the markets are selling pumpkins! I believe this weekend is going to be a good time to carve pumpkins and bake pumpkin seeds!!

But apart from real pumpkin decorations, this year I thought I would make also a crochet pumpkin, simple and very quick to make.

It's a good fit for Halloween and Thansgiving decorations, together with my last year's projects of  SPOOKY SPIDERS and TURKEY AMIGURUMI!

Spicing up the kitchen with a Crochet Jar Cover

Here is one of those projects that I had in my mind since I started crocheting, and now I finally dedicated some time to it..a crocheted jar cover!

It's a very simple project and you can use any leftovers as it does not require a lot of yarn.

I hadn't focused much on crocheting for the kitchen and I wanted to "spice up" a little bit my oregano jar, so I crocheted around the cover using a light green cotton, while using a darker green as a contrast on the edge and for the bow.

What do you think of it?

I am quite happy with the way it fits within my spice rack...and I have a feeling that this could be the first one of a big series!!

Crochet Mug Cozy

Autumn has definitely reached London and to me it's the best time of the year to enjoy crocheting.

It had been a while since I wanted to realise a mug cozy and, thinking a bit ahead, it could be a sweet present for Christmas.

I followed the free pattern from Marion Hassold, and you can find the link to it HERE

The pattern is very easy to follow and super quick to realize...it took me about half hour to make it....and your present is ready!!!

I used a 4.5mm hook with a medium thickness yarn.

Just sent a picture to my sister telling her my idea to start making more as Christmas presents and she suggested me to start making one for her to keep it in her office :)

Shabby Chic Crochet Purse

All of my friends seem to be getting more and more into shabby chic style....so I thought I'd try to create something of kind in crochet...

A few months ago I made my first crochet purse out of a pattern from Inside Crochet...and in that occasion I had ordered a package of silver frames...all of which, apart from one, were still sitting in my big box waiting to be used.... 

...I got the IDEA!!! A small crochet purse made out of my own pattern! I am quite proud of the final product! Ahahah... I guess it's because it was the first time I've been using the bobble stitch and I realised I really love the effect.

It is a very filling stitch, with the only downside that it does take a lot of yarn....

I would be really curious to hear your thoughts about my purse...

I am bit lazy (probably still feeling the summer mood) so I don't have the pattern written down nicely yet, but once I do, I will share it with you!

Cupcake Doorstop…a sweet way to decorate your house!

Couldn't think of a cuter way to keep your doors opened….especially in the summer!

I hadn't thought of making crochet doorstop until I got delivered issue 54 of Inside Crochet. The pattern is from Emma Varnam and I found it joyful and easy to realize. Then I added a few sparkle on top as this how I would typically bake my cupcakes ;)

I found the whole idea of crochet doorstop pretty cool…and I feel like I am going to let my creativity go crazy on my next one and develop my own pattern! I will keep you posted on this and share the pattern with you, would you be interested!

Maybe I've inspired you to make crochet doorstop as well…if so, please share your pictures with me as I'd be really keen to see your finished projects!

Crochet Earrings….My Second Pair

Finally back on the blog…. sharing with you a very simple and quick crochet project!

It's my second time making crochet earrings. My first pair was realized for my best friend's birthday, and you can find pictures and link to the post here !!!

…this time I am not working in rounds but in a spiral in the round, like you would do with amigurumi.

The pattern is from Liz Ward from issue 53 of Inside Crochet and it's super easy.

It actually gets you playing with pliers and clippers, making me willing to make more jewelry some time soon….

I found it fun, and if you make them in different colors they could match all of your flashy summer dresses and shirts!
